OUR INSTRUCTORS

MUSIC

Theme

Germany has been the epicenter of the development of music since Bach’s time. Since then, polyphonic ensemble music has been characteristic for many German composers, and this will also be the theme for our camp. Students will be instructed by experienced ensemble experts and taught the nuances of sharing in the creation of music.

Content
  • One-on-one personal instruction

  • Chamber music courses in small groups (separated by proficiency)

  • Jazz improvisation courses

  • Music Theory and Composition courses

  • Optional: Introductory Viola lessons

Participation in local ensemble groups

German children play instruments largely out of interest and are not pushed by parents as they are in Asia: even though younger students are less technically proficient, by the time they reach young adulthood, German students are much more likely to become excellent musicians (and barring that, other well-rounded members of society). We aim to expose participants to this philharmonic spirit.

  • Joint rehearsals on Saturdays and Sundays

Concerts (Examples)
  • Summer Concert with a German youth orchestra at Castle Solitude (with soloist opportunities)

  • Charity concerts in nursing homes and churches
